Among my family and circle of friends there is no one more excited than me about believing that there are unforeseen forces supporting your dreams every day! In fact my mum says that if she could bottle my passion and enthusiasm for what myself and so many others teach, the world would be a ‘kinder’ place.
A few months ago I came across this competition entitled ‘Do you have the recipe for Britains best loved dish’? As I read through the application I thought oh well, yorkshire puddings, sunday roasts, creamy chessecakes, etc., etc., will win hands down, what’s the point of me entering with my no meat, no dairy, no sugar recipes!
This is in no way being negative about what I teach and love – my intuition just didn’t guide me to say, WOW! what an opportunity to get a delicious tasting vegan recipe out there instead of all the so called ‘healthy foods’ with fatty dressings, hidden sugars and the rest. Perhaps my intuitive wee mind was having an off day.

A few weeks later my sister called me and said hey Mal, have you seen the competition to win ‘Britains best loved dish’. The winning recipe will be launched and stocked in all the Marks & Spencer Stores so I thought, this is a sign!! he he! It was being flagged up to me again.
I dowloaded the application form on line, completed it with all the relevant information they required about why had I choosen this particular recipe? Why had I created this recipe? etc., etc., I sent if off and forgot all about it to be honest. I was therefore very excited to receive an email this week informing me that I was through to the next heat of the competition. They loved my recipe! Wow! Now for all of my vegan/vegetarian friends out there, don’t you think this is a major breakthrough? I sure do. My Kale, Broccoli & Tofu Stir Fry with Miso/Ginger Dressing is in the next stage of the competition being held in Harrogate in September.
Things are changing, I feel it in my ‘water’ as we say in Scotland…. not that long ago this type of recipe would have been passed over without a second glance.

Things show up at the most interesting times in our lives, don’t you think? I have been recently contacting many food companies in relation to NPD (new product development) who never reply to me. Bill says I spend all my money at the post office, writing to the world and their granny!! and posting off copies of my book to so many in the hope of one ‘soul’ saying, hey I want to be a part of this and help to move the world towards a wholefoods plant based diet.
This competition then could be just the ticket….. creating a whole vegan/vegetarian range of foods, yes!! I know I am getting ahead of myself here, but as a great believer that thoughts become reality that’s where my head is at. For those of you who have my book and cook from it and enjoy my food please send good vibes my way for my cookathon next month.
