A physician and nutrition expert who teaches better health through vegetarian cuisine, Dr. John McDougall, has been studying, writing, and speaking out about the effects of nutrition on disease for over 30 years.

I love John McDougall’s no nonsense approach to health, which in actual fact, was the name of my very first book way back yonder, so I must resurrect that book sometime as it’s out of print.

In my eyes, Dr. McDougall is a man of great stature.   He keeps the flame of truth burning bright and clears up so much mass confusion around nutrition.   His experience with ill health changed the course of his professional life and his story is quite frankly breathtaking.

Dr. McDougall has cared for thousands of patients for almost 3 decades. His programme not only promotes a broad range of dramatic and lasting health benefits but, most importantly, can also reverse serious illnesses including high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and others, all without the use of drugs.  He is the founder and director of the nationally renowned McDougall Programme: a ten-day residential programme that he and his wife Mary McDougall host at a resort in Santa Rosa, California.   Medical miracles occur constantly through diet and lifestyle changes on these programmes.

A graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine, Dr. McDougall performed his internship at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, and his medical residency at the University of Hawaii. He is certified as an internist by the Board of Internal Medicine and the National Board of Medical Examiners.  He and Mary are also the authors of several nationally best-selling books as well as the co-founders of Dr. McDougall’s Right Foods, which produces high quality vegetarian cuisine to make it easier for people to eat well on the go.

    Glad you are enjoying my Marlene & Friends series of videos with my friends from around the world. Fruitarianism is not something I would be showcasing. It is not a balanced way to live and is simply another crazy idea that comes from California. If we eat and live like our ancestors by using wholegrain, beans, pulses, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds, we will love a long and healthy life. I will be eventually be visiting the Blue Zones in the world where people who eat this way, are vibrant and healthy with fantastic cognitive health way past their 90’s and centenarians. I hope that helps you. Living within a seasonal zone is what brings balance to the body. I see people who try to live on fruit and they have digestive and blood sugar problems. I hope that helps.
