Barnard Medical Director Dr. James Loomis Appearing on Marlene & Friends

This weeks’ hugely inspiring friend, Dr. James Loomis will share with you all how he came to embrace a whole-food, plant-based diet and the effects it had on his personal health and his approach to the prevention and treatment of chronic disease in his practice.

As Dr. Loomis incorporated plant-based eating as the cornerstone of his therapeutic arsenal, many of his patients have experienced the same near-miraculous results.

The discovery of whole-food, plant-based eating has transformed the way he thinks about health, both personally and professionally, all thanks to discovering Forks Over Knives one evening on Netflix.  Since then, Dr. Loomis has added more exercise and continued following a whole-food, plant-based diet and lost almost 60 pounds total, completed five half-marathons and four triathlons, and completed his first half-Ironman.

As Medical Director of the fabulous newly opened Barnard Medical Centre http://www.pcrm.org/barnard-medical-center  Dr. Loomis has shared this message regarding the power of whole-plant-based eating with his patients, those who have embraced it have had the same astounding results that he had, oftentimes being able to stop the medications they were taking for diabetes, cholesterol, or high blood pressure.

It is now clear to Dr. Loomis that almost every chronic disease he was trained to treat (often with the help of prescription medication) is directly or indirectly related to living a lifestyle discordant with the one we are designed to lead—we eat things we are not designed to eat, we don’t eat things we are designed to eat, we don’t get enough physical activity, and we deal with stress in ways we were not designed to. This discordant lifestyle has profound effects on the health of our society as well as the health of our planet, and a whole-food, plant-based diet can play a transformational role in improving both.

Barnard Medical Centre is the future of healthcare and I look forward to having Jim over here in Scotland so please connect with me with note of your interest in attending a workshop in the near future.

In good health

  3. Hi Marlene, can you tell me how long are you vegan, and when did you started using B12 supplement?Thank you.

    • Decades vegan and EVERYONE who is vegan should take a b12 supplement. We are all different, some store b12 for longer periods from eating animals, others don’t so I tell everyone take a b12, it’s no big deal, simply a microorganism xx
